What You Need to Know About the New e-Visa System:
- When It’s Happening: The e-Visa system officially kicks off on January 1, 2025.
- Where to Apply: All applications will now be done on www.thaievisa.go.th.
- Who Can Apply: Whether you’re traveling for a vacation or business, you can apply online for any type of visa. You can even get someone to do it for you if you’d prefer.
- How to Pay: Visa fees will still need to be paid offline. Follow the instructions given by the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General. Keep in mind, though—once you pay, there are no refunds.
- Processing Time: Once you’ve made the payment, your visa should be ready in about 14 working days.
Important Deadlines for the Old System:
- For ordinary passports, you have until December 16, 2024 to apply through visa processing companies.
- For diplomatic or official passports, you can apply directly at the Embassy or Consulate-General until December 24, 2024.
The Embassy also clarified that Indian travelers visiting for less than 60 days (for tourism or short business trips) don’t need a visa yet. That rule stays the same for now.
