Paytm launched a new AI-integrated travel application for easy booking of travel tickets. The app is named Paytm Checkin. It can be used to book flight, train, metro, and bus tickets.
The app has an integrated AI assistance, which helps users book tickets through conversational assistance. The assistance has features like recommending destinations and creating a personalised itinerary based on the preferences of the users. The company states that the app offers personalised recommendations based on prior travel history. These features are, however, still in the beta stage.
Paytm Travel’s chief executive officer, Vikash Jalan, stated that AI has the potential to change travelling and travel bookings, and through the new app, the company has tried to bring the best of AI for a user-friendly experience. The company is focusing more on AI, especially after the founder and chief of Paytm, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, told analysts that AI-related products are expected to bring more revenue in the coming times.
Paytm is also moving towards integrating AI in its soundboxes and merchant-facing devices. Paytm plans to integrate devices with AI-powered agents that are capable of giving insights and voice-based commands for the merchants.
CEO Sharma has also revealed that AI gives more opportunities and potential. Bringing newer things for everyone. Hence, there can be a possibility of a possible Subscription bases model to monetise the new model. Several sectors are now integrating AI into their service models.
The IT sector is particularly going through a big change, which in a way is positive for the companies, but is seriously damaging the labour market as it is promoting mass layoffs. Recently, the same was seen when companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Google conducted layoffs across sectors due to AI advancement.
