Traffic on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway is super backed up on Saturday, December 21, with cars barely moving. The expressway, which connects Mumbai and Pune, is especially jammed near Khandala Ghat, where the fog and extra cars are making it even worse.
Pune-Satara Road Congestion
The Pune-Satara Road is also backed up, with the Khed Shivapur toll plaza seeing long queues, stretching up to 5 kilometers. Commuters trying to travel between Pune and Satara are stuck in traffic, moving at a crawl.
Weekend Traffic Struggles
While weekend traffic on the expressway is always a problem, today’s congestion is especially bad. Today, the congestion is worse than usual because thick fog in the Khandala Ghat area is making it hard to see.
Holiday Traffic Rush
With Christmas and New Year coming up, a lot of people are heading to their hometowns for the holidays, making the traffic even worse. Families heading out for celebrations are stuck in the jam and are getting really frustrated.
Other Affected Routes:
- Traffic is also heavy near Ranjangaon on the Pune-Nagar Road.
- On the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Lonavala, traffic is moving slowly because of fog and too many vehicles.
Alternative Routes for Pune-Satara Road:
- Katraj Bypass: Use the Katraj Bypass instead of the Katraj Tunnel for a quicker trip.
- Via Sinhagad Road: You can take Sinhagad Road from Khadakwasla to reach Nasrapur or Khandala Phata.
- Wadgaon-Nasrapur Route: This route through Dhayari is another way to get to Nasrapur.
- Bhor Route to Satara: It’s narrow and hilly, but it’s less crowded.
- MSRDC Local Routes: Consider using local roads built by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for a quicker connection to the highways.
Make sure to plan your trip ahead of time and stay updated on traffic conditions to avoid getting stuck in the jams!
