As countries face issues of population decrease and fertility crisis they have come up with innovative ways to solve them. Out of these methods, one popular method is giving incentives to people from other countries for marrying local women in their countries. This helps in revitalizing the economy, demography and expenditure in the countries.
Italy
In the rural areas of Italy including Candela and Dormina the government offers € 2000 if they decide to stay in the region and marry the locals. This is done to boost the local region which is demographically declining but has a rich culture.
China
Once the most populous country in the world China’s population is declining due to its one-child policy which has been relaxed only recently to avoid population decline. The government has also taken measures to increase the population, this includes monetary incentives to couples who marry local women aged 25 or less.
Hungary
In Hungary, the government has provided incentives like subsidized loans and forgiveness of debt to people who have two or more kids. The government also provides interest-free loans to newly married people in the country to motivate the citizens to help stabilise the shrinking size of the population.
Iceland
Iceland suffers from an unequal sex ratio where the population of males are less than the females. Reports suggest that to overcome the demographic slowdown in the country the government has implemented a policy to provide monetary support to males of other countries marrying their local women and settling in Ireland.
Russia
Russia also implemented a similar policy to correct the disturbing balance between male-women population in the country. These include subsidies on housing and tax breaks for married couples.
Estonia
The East European country suffers from an imbalanced ratio of men and women, in order to boost the demography of the nation the authorities have provided incentives to couples who decide to settle in the country including monetary, health, and educational benefits.
Denmark
The Scandinavian country does not offer any direct incentive to marry local women but has easy rules for international marriages. Other than providing easy conditions to get married Denmark’s quality of life and social security benefits are made to attract foreigners to settle in the country.
Singapore
Hailed as one of the most developed countries in South Asia, Singapore offers a “baby bonus” for married couples and also provides easy terms of loans to them.
