Lately, every other post on X seems to depict a comic world. This new trend has made people almost obsessed with Ghibli-style art, it all began after OpenAI introduced its latest AI image-generating tool, chatGPT-4o.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also changed his profile to a Ghibli-inspired look, which was followed by chatPGT users who created creative images using the same. The latest version of chatGPT, GPT-4o, has an in-built feature of image generation that can be used to create images using AI, but out of all the styles, this one has become the centre of attention for its colourful, playful, and hand-painting-like features.
Any user wanting to use the feature has to upload an image in the latest version and ask AI to “turn this into a Studio Ghibli version,” this will prompt the tool to automatically create a beautiful image.
Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio popular for its playful, heart-warming stories through art founded by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata in 1985. It is known for creating some of the most amazing animated works of all time including, My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away, and The Grave of the Fireflies. Ever since the trend began, X has been flooded with watercolour paintings created using GPT 4o, with people changing pictures of pets, friends, and politicians into studio art.
