Mason Mount, the Manchester United midfielder, is going to be out for several weeks after getting injured in the Manchester derby. He lasted only 14 minutes before being subbed off. Mount has had a tough time with injuries since his big £55 million move from Chelsea.
United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, spoke about Mount’s injury and the struggle of getting players back to full fitness: “It’s going to be a few weeks, but I don’t know exactly how long. It’s just part of football, and we’ve got to keep going,” said Amorim. He also talked about how tough it is to help players recover when there’s not much time for proper training because of all the games.
“We don’t have time to train like we should when players are recovering from injuries. We’re always traveling and playing matches, so it’s hard to get the team together and prepare properly for games,” Amorim added.
To make matters worse, United has more injury problems. Defender Victor Lindelof also got injured during the team’s 4-3 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarter-final. He had to leave at halftime, adding to the team’s concerns.
But there’s some good news – Marcus Rashford is ready to return for United’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on December 22. Rashford missed the last two games and was part of some transfer rumors, but Amorim confirmed there’s no disciplinary issue. “We need players like him at Manchester United,” Amorim said.
With these injuries, United will need to adjust and keep focused as they head into a crucial set of games.
