The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is going to hold a Special General Meeting in Mumbai on January 12 to Elect a new secretary and treasurer.
These two roles have been vacant since Jay Shah became the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) earlier this month, and Ashish Shelar joined the Maharashtra government as a cabinet minister.
According to the BCCI rules, when someone quits their job, the board has 45 days to hold a meeting and choose a replacement.
To kick things off, the BCCI had a meeting on Thursday, and they decided that former chief election commissioner A.K. Jyoti would be in charge of overseeing the election for the new secretary and treasurer.
Although state associations haven’t officially been told about the meeting yet, sources say formal notifications will be sent out soon, following the BCCI rule that says the members should get at least 21 days’ notice before the meeting.
