The situation in Bangladesh is sensitive as the mortal remains of Sharif Osman Hadi were handed over to Dhaka. The young Hadi leader was the upcoming leader of the Inquilab Mancha. The UN Human Rights Chief, Volker Turk, said that there should be a transparent investigation of the killing as he urged the people in the country to avoid violence.
Turk said that revenge and further retaliation will undermine everyone’s rights. He added that he has requested the authorities to conduct a transparent investigation and find out those responsible for the attack. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Bangladeshi interim government, has also asked the citizens to stay calm as Hadi’s mortals fled from Singapore to Dhaka. Party leaders from various parties were present at the airport to receive Hadi’s coffin.
Yunus also announced that prayers for Hadi will take place at the South Plaza of the National Parliament in Dhaka on 20th December. He further said that the citizens should resist any form of violence by fringe elements and avoid any destruction to state properties or atrocities against the common people.
Osman’s funeral was held amidst high state security, as the protestors demanded punishment for the killers of the young leader who was act e during the 2024 Bangladesh uprising. Parties have also warned that the growing unrest, violence, and arson attacks can be used to derail the Results of the 2026 elections. The protestors asked for the resignation of Lt. Gen Md. Jahagir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Affairs Advisor.
The protestors allege that Chowdhury has failed to arrest the perpetrators involved in Hadi’s killing. As per reports, thousands of people attended his funeral. Abdullah Al Jaber, the secretary of Inquilab Moncha, gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the government over the resignation of Chowdhary. Yunus also arrived at the Plaza where Hadi’s funeral was being conducted, and said that the young leader will not be forgotten, and will always be known for his contribution to the nation.
