People living in the United States are not even completely aware of the layers of culture and religion existing in India, but are quick to comment. In a similar rant, the White House trade advisor Peter Navarro has said that the Brahmins are benefiting at the cost of the Indian people, and he thinks it must stop. In an interview with Fox News Sunday, he said that though Narendra Modi is a good leader, he has no idea why the leader of the world’s largest democracy is collaborating with the Chinese and Russian leaders.
Adding to this statement, he explained that this was happening due to Brahmins who are benefiting at the expense of Indians, as he continues to caution Indians to be careful about this. This is not the first time that Navarro has targeted India, which he has been doing since the time talks between India and the US have been disrupted due to the tariffs imposed by Trump. India has said that the tariffs were “unjustified and unreasonable”.
Talking about how much tariff would be enough to “choke” Russia, Navarro said that since the US has imposed a 50 per cent tariff on India and a similar amount on China, it will discourage them from collaborating with Russia on oil imports, which, as per the US, is fueling the Russia-Ukraine war. He also explained the connection between oil exports from Russia and its link with the Ukraine war.
He said that the Indian oil imports are giving revenue to Russia, which it uses to fund the war against Ukraine, and the US taxpayers, on the other hand, are buying Indian goods, which in turn gives India more money to purchase the oil from Russia. Navarro has also referred to India as the “Maharaja of tariffs”. Though India has made it clear that the Russian oil imports are necessary for its national security US has, in the past weeks, continued to slam India, not to mention imposing the tariffs.
Navarro even called the Ukraine war “Modi’s war” and reportedly said that the “road to peace” runs “right through New Delhi”.
