In what has come as a shocking statement by the Ukrainian embassy, it claimed that a missile attack on an Indian pharmaceutical storehouse was deliberately done to harm the materials. It is alleged that, though Russia calls itself India’s friend, it has other motives reflected in its actions. It hit the storehouse of a pharma company named Kusum, and later, in a post on X, the embassy claimed that this was an “intentional” act.
The post said that while Russians claim to be friends of Indians, they are destroying the Indian company’s storehouse meant for essential medicines and supplies for the kids and the elderly. Maintained by Kusum Healthcare, the warehouse had essential commodities for humanitarian needs. There has been no official statement by the authorities in Ukraine over the same, but they have condemned the act as a violation of international laws.
Martin Harris, who is Britain’s ambassador to Ukraine, claimed before Kyiv’s response that the attacks were done by a drone, not a missile, as suspected by the Ukrainian embassy. He also took to X and shared a post explaining the same, “This morning, Russian drones completely destroyed a major pharmaceuticals warehouse in Kyiv, incinerating stocks of medicines needed by the elderly and children. Russia’s campaign of terror against Ukrainian civilians continues.”
The site of the attack was managed by Kusum Healthcare, which operates a group of pharma companies in many countries, including Ukraine, India, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Myanmar, Mexico, and Kenya. It also has four facilities for manufacturing, three of which are located in India, while one is in Ukraine.
While more details of the attack are not out, it comes after the Indian Prime Minister made his stance on the ongoing war clear, stating that he want the war to end with peaceful diplomatic measures. Both Russia and Ukraine have continued accusations against each other, pointing to a tougher situation ahead and no visible end to the conflict that has been ongoing for three years, killing thousands and costing millions.
