Amidst the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, dropped another ‘vote theft’ allegation against the BJP. He claimed that over 25 Lakh fake voters were filled during the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, where the BJP had won.
During the third press conference on the Vote Chori campaign, Mr Gandhi shared a photograph belonging to a Brazilian model, which he claimed was used at 10 booths over 22 times with different names. The voters’ list shared belonged to the Rai constituency. He termed the file name as ‘H files’, which his party members popularly called the anticipated Hydrogen bomb.
The presentation of the file lasted for 1 hour 20 minutes, where Rahul Gandhi stated that over 1,22,177 voters used fake photos for voting in the Haryana Assembly elections. He stated that every one in eight voters in the state is fake, and despite the Congress party losing with 22,779 votes and a difference of eight seats.
Calling this an “Operation Sarkar Chori” in the state, he said that despite all exit polls and predictions stating a clear victory for the Congress, the BJP government won due to the alleged vote theft scam. Mr Gandhi also alleged that the Election Commission was also a part of the scam, and that the agency works with PM Modi and Amit Shah to conduct such a big scam.
He further said that when the list of voters is such a big lie, there exists no question of democracy and the leader of the opposition, it was his duty to make the people aware of this fact. Meanwhile, the Election Commission and the BJP have rejected the claims categorically. On the question of seeking the help of the Supreme Court, Rahul Gandhi stated that the court is watching and nothing is done in a closed room.
He also appealed to the youth of the country to fight for truth through non-violent means. He said that if the list of voters was a lie, it means that there were no elections in Haryana, and hence the people of India should fight against this, as the country belongs to them and not to the ECI or PM Modi.
