In a candid podcast with MIT researcher Fridman, Prime Minister Modi shared his ideas on spirituality, politics, and life in general. PM Modi talked about his connection with RSS and its influence on his life and political career. He said that the Sangh is unique, and a group like this “likely doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world.”
He also talked about the Godhra riots in Gujrat in 2002, when Modi was the chief minister of Gujrat. He emphasized the role of “misinformation” as fuel for instigating the riots. The PM also discussed the factors that led to the success of the BJP. Previous experience working with an organization and managing elections and campaigns according to the PM was the pillar of BJP’s success. He also dedicated the success of his party to, “millions of dedicated workers who are completely devoted to the welfare of India and its citizens.”
Another important insight was regarding the identity of India, the PM reflected on the cultural richness, vivid history and varied culture of the country bound by unity in diversity. The candid talk also included memories from the Prime minister’s life as a child, his unwillingness to wear shoes to school, and ironing clothes in different ways. His humbleness was visible through his journey from an unprivileged background and how it never became a hurdle for him.

To take criticisms and backlash Mr. Modi said “Nowadays what we see isn’t real criticism”, adding, “Genuine criticism requires thorough study, in-depth research. It demands finding the truth from falsehoods. Today, people look for shortcuts, avoid proper research, and skip deep analysis. Instead of identifying genuine weaknesses, they jump straight to accusations. There’s a big difference between allegations and criticism.”
