First time after the Pahalgam attack, the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, meets PM Modi at his residence to discuss the situation with the prime minister. In the 30-minute-long discussion, many important discussions were held between the leaders, as confirmed by PTI. Later, the JKNC also shared on X that the chief minister has met with the Prime Minister and discussed important matters about the Pahalgam attack that took 26 lives on 22 April.
In an emotional statement at a legislative assembly gathering a few days ago, Abdullah said that he would not use the Pahalgam issue to ask for statehood. He ended up crying in front of the members and said that the curse is on him if he pushes a political agenda in a serious time like this. He also said that he too feels responsible for the attacks because, as the CM, the tourists killed in the attack were his guests, and the attack happened when the state was under his leadership.
It has also been reported earlier that the central government agreed that there were security lapses and confessed its mistake in the all-party meeting in Delhi. The relations between India and Pakistan have become sourer than before after the massive attack, with India cutting all trade and diplomatic ties and also suspending the Indus Water Treaty, which is the lifeline of agriculture in Pakistan.
The same day, CM Abdullah’s father, Farooq Abdullah, met the tourists in Kashmir who emphasised that Kashmir is an integral part of India. After the meeting, he also said to the media that the attack has given a strong message that tourists are not afraid to visit the territory of Kashmir. Abdullah said in the interview that the people who wanted to spread fear have lost, as the people of India will not be scared, and Kashmir will continue to be a part of the country.
