The death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh sparked a heated debate between the BJP and the Congress. After his passing, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge asked Prime Minister Modi to build a memorial for Dr. Singh at the site of his cremation. Congress pointed out that this has been the tradition for former PMs and statesmen. The BJP responded by approving the memorial but accused Congress of playing “dirty politics” over the issue.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh added fuel to the fire by saying that it was insulting that the Centre hadn’t found a location for the memorial earlier.
Doctor Singh’s final journey have been announced. On Saturday morning his body will be taken to the Congress headquarters. So that people can come and show their respect. The funeral procession will begin at 9:30 a.m. and his final rites will take place at Nigambodh Ghat at 11:45 a.m with all state dignitaries.
