The three-day Raisina Dialogue, India’s premier dialogue on geopolitics and geoeconomics, is set to begin on Monday, March 17th (17 to 19 March). The dialogue, named after the Raisina Hills in Delhi, is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation(ORF) and the Ministry of External Affairs, and this year marks the 10th edition of the event.
The representatives of 125 countries, including foreign ministers, industry leaders, former heads, and leaders from ministries are invited to the conference in New Delhi: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and Alexander A Dynkin, the President of Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations at the Russian Academy of Science. Foreign ministers from 20 countries are also attending..
Ministers from the EU are also set to be a part of this meeting which highlights the role of diplomacy in the current war. After the horrifying trend of words that unfolded between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, the Raisina dialogue is a slight ray of hope to revive talks for peace.
The Ukrainian foreign minister is also reported to meet Prime Minister Modi on the sidelines of the meeting. This marks an important step in India’s geopolitical position and establishes it as an active voice in the ongoing crisis. Delhi and its strategic alliance with the US, Europe, and Russia and close contact with the countries especially the US after the election of Donald Trump makes it a trustworthy partner.
Prime minister’s visit to Russia and Ukraine last year and his emphasis on peace talks is a bright light in the dim nightmare of the Russia-Ukraine war and its impact on the geopolitical situation..
