PM Modi arrived in Nagpur on Sunday to visit the Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir. This marks his first visit to the RSS headquarters ever since 2014. Another important stop during his visit to the city was Dr B R Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi. It is an auspicious day coinciding with Guddi Padwa, Hindu New Year, and Marathi New Year. RSS is also planning the “Pratipada” programme to mark the ceremony.
He describes RSS as “Akshay Vat Vriksh” of modern-day India. Signifying its importance he further said it is “continuously energising Indian culture and the consciousness of our nation”.
Visiting the Deekhsaboomi he hailed the role of B R Ambedkar, calling him “a symbol of social justice and empowering the downtrodden”.He also laid the foundation stone of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre of Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute and Research Centre and called it a move in the effort to make healthcare Indigenous and accessible through “sabka prayas”.
Other than the Prime Minister, dignitaries including RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Maharastra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were also present. In his address to the nation, Mr Modi emphasised healthcare to all and focused on the importance of Ayushman Bharat and Jan-Ausadhi Kendras which help in providing healthcare and medicines to middle and lower-income groups of the country.
Expressing his views on the role of RSS which is celebrating its centenary year he said that colonialism is being replaced by a new beginning fuelled with national pride. The country is moving towards the path of progress and innovation led by the youth which he said will surely make India a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
