The Pakistani Air Force dropped eight bombs in a village situated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 30 people, including innocent women and children. The LS-6 bombs were dropped on the Pashtun-majority province of Matre Dara from the JF-17 jets. The bomb destroyed a large part of the village.
Though it has not been confirmed, reports suggest that several people were injured in the attack. The local media also said that the Pakistani Air Force was targeting the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan hideouts, but instead killed civilians in a massive attack. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is a mountain province on the border of Afghanistan, and is popularly known as the hideout of terrorists.
The army announced on Sunday that it had killed seven TTP terrorists near the Dera Ismail Khan district. The media wing also reported that three out of the seven killed were Afghan nationals, while two were suicide bombers. A week ago, on 13 and 14 September, the army killed 31 terrorists in the same region. This highlights the increasing terrorism in Pakistan, especially in the provinces bordering Afghanistan.
After the recent attack, rescue operations are ongoing in the region, as the police reported that a rise in tolls can also be witnessed, as a lot of houses were damaged. Local media quoted police officer Zaffar Khan, who stated that 14 militants have also been killed. He also stated that the militants were using the local civilians as a shield and had also stored weapons inside mosques.
