On march 14 piles of cash was found from the house of Delhi High Court judge, justice Yashwant Varma after which a five-bench collegium has decided to impose an immediate transfer of the judge to his parent court–Allahabad High Court.

The Delhi High Court said that it has already started an in-house inquiry of the judge and will submit its report to the Supreme court on 21st march. After which it will be examined for future action.
A source disclosed that after a video of the incident came to the notice of CJI other judges also recommended an immediate transfer. The developments have sent shock waves in not only the judiciary but also the parliament.
Vice president, Jagdeep Dhankhar says, “If the malaise had been dealt with, perhaps we would not have countenanced such kind of issues”. Also emphasizes the NJAC Act of 2019 which was declared “void” by the Supreme Court. He said that the law passed by the parliament had the power to deal with such situations.
The Vice-president’s response came at the remark of Congress MP Jairam Ramesh asking for his reply concerning the matter and suggesting ways to ensure higher judicial accountability to avoid similar issues in future.
