After the Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke about Operation Sindoor at the United Nations, India strongly replied to his statements on Saturday. Petal Gehlot, first secretary in India’s permanent mission to the United Nations, stated that pictures speak more than words, and the entire world saw the pictures from the Bahawalpur and Muridke sites where the Indian strikes took place.
Emphasising the unspoken truth of Pakistan’s terror funding, Gehlot said that if “destroyed runways and broken hangars” was victory for Pakistan, the Prime Minister was welcome to appreciate it. Without any legitimate proof, Pakistani leaders have repeatedly claimed to have destroyed Indian planes during the Operation in May. The Prime Minister spoke about the same thing on Friday, where he said that the country was ready for a dialogue with India, and also claimed that it has turned our fighter jets into “scrap and dust”.
Mr Sharif did not stop here as he went on to say that India wanted political gains from the Pahalgam attack that shocked the world. Attacking Sharif, Gehlot called his claims and fight with India “bizarre”. She clarified in her statement how Pakistan was fighting with India till 9th May, but the authorities pleaded directly on 10th of May to stop the conflict that started on 7th of May, after Operation Sindoor.
Pakistan’s prime minister also talked about Donald Trump and called him “a man of peace” as he asserted the claim that Trump brokered peace between India and Pakistan. This stance has been denied by India since the beginning of the conflict, but has been repeatedly emphasised by both Trump and Pakistani authorities. Sharif said that Pakistan was capable of continuing the fight, but due to Trump’s mediation, the army decided to step back.
The reply by India’s representative was important and befitting in the backdrop of rumours and misinformation being spread by Pakistani authorities on the international platforms.
