In a recent speech at the UNGA, the president of the US once again claimed to have stopped the allegedly “unending” war between India and Pakistan. He also claimed that he has stopped six more conflicts, and went on to criticise the United Nations for what he called “empty words”.
Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York on 23rd September, Donald Trump talked about issues ranging from immigration, climate change, and conflicts. But rather than a speech, the media around the world is slamming it as a “stand-up comedy”, due to outrageous claims and bizarre conclusions.
He claimed that in seven months, he ended seven unending wars that seemed to be going on forever and claimed several lives. He listed the conflicts between Kosovo and Serbia, Congo and Rwanda, Cambodia and Thailand, Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan. Talking about the United Nations, he further said that it has a lot of potential but has never fully utilised it.
This is not the first time that Trump has claimed to have stopped seven wars. Earlier at the American Cornerstone Institute’s Founder’s Dinner, he stated the same thing, and also emphasised that he must be given a Nobel Prize for his efforts in ending seven wars. He once again lashed out at India and China and targeted both countries for funding the Ukraine war by buying Russian oil. He also hinted at further sanctions against Moscow, though he did not specify much about it.
He made shocking statements about climate change, saying how the idea was bogus and the environmentalists were a threat to the world and were planning to kill cows. He further mocked the UN’s technical malfunctions and an escalator issue. Trump returned to the UNGA stage after five years, and among other things, he also criticised the teleprompter failure at the event.
