Israel’s latest round of firing that began Tuesday morning has killed more than 400 Palestinians and injured many. Benjamin Netanyahu boisterously declared that are planning to “resume combat in full force”.
The war that began in 2023 has led to the loss of several thousand innocent lives. The ceasefire gave temporary relief to the Palestinians and lasted for the last two months and the recent actions are justified by Israel as a step for not adhering to the ceasefire agreement by Hamas.
The White House on the other hand accepted that it had been informed about the strike and had supported Israle’s move. Israel warned the people of Gaza to evacuate the eastern part and head towards central areas before the strikes. The bombings in the holy month of Ramadan indicate that the war is beginning in full swing, and Mr Netanyahu’s remarks that “Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength,” makes his stance clear.
Israel’s military signalled that it targeted Hamas vehicles and areas where they suspected future launches, but reports suggest that many innocents mainly women and children were killed. The population is also facing a shortage of necessities as only two weeks back Israel had cut the supply of goods, and much of it was getting exhausted.
Tom Fletcher, UN’s under-secretary-general for humanitarian Affairs and emergency relief said, “The intensity of the killings is now off the scale”.
The deal and the cease-fire began on 19 January, after which both the parties failed to agree on common terms for the release of hostages and withdrawal of troops due to which the ongoing strikes began. These trends however have made situations even worse with a senior officer from Hamas declaring that this action equals, a “death sentence” for the rest of the hostages.
