As we step into the new year, with freshness and hope, it’s important to look back at the year that was, 2025. From the Coldplay concert to the latest spy thriller, Dhurandhar, India talked about many things, and here is a list of the most highlighted memories.
2025 was undoubtedly a year of extremes. From extreme fervour to fury, there have been moments like the World Cup win to the stampede at several places, National controversies over elections, and International events like the tariff war.
In January, the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj was celebrated after a gap of 144 years. Beginning on the 13th January, it was a spiritual melody that continued till February 26, gathering crowds from across the planet. However, the spiritual festival was broken by a speed on 27 January, killing over 30 people.
January was also the month when the popular band Coldplay came to perform in the country. In February, the nation witnessed the ‘Latent controversy’ where the courtroom quite literally became the drama room. The budget passed in February brought relief for the middle class by giving tax benefits.
The Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 shocked the nation when terrorists killed tourists in the Kashmir valley. May saw a retaliation of the terror attack in the form of Operation Sindoor, which was seen as a proud moment for the soldiers and the country. In June, the country saw the worst aeroplane crash in the history of aviation.
In July, the President of the United States imposed tariffs on India on the pretext that India’s oil supplies from Russia funded the war against Ukraine. In August, the Prime Minister visited China, which became the most talked-about event as India tried to ease relations with China.
In September, the government announced the GST reforms, which were the most highlighted economic decision of the year. In October, the government focused on removing Naxalism from the country. In November, the country witnessed another terror attack, with a bomb blast in the Red Fort area of New Delhi.
Last month, that is December, again brought before a major aviation crisis in the form of the Indigo Airlines crisis, which left many passengers stranded, and brought the country to its knees for almost a week.
With several memories and a lot more lessons, we have finally stepped into a new year.
