On Sunday, during the Maan ki Baat radio programme, PM Modi highlighted India’s achievements in 2025. From defence achievements to strides in self-sufficiency, the talk included several aspects. In the 129th edition of the programme, the Prime Minister reflected on various initiatives that gave us the chance to be proud Indians.
He began by recognising India’s contribution in science, sports, and on the global stage. The Operation Sindoor was discussed by him as an event every Indian was proud of. He said that during the Operation, love and patriotism for the country were not just visible within the country but also from different parts of the world. He further stated that the same zeal was seen when ‘Vande Mataram’ completed 150 years.
Talking about sports, he highlighted the World Cup win by India’s men’s cricket team, and the women’s cricket team etching their name in the history of Cricket. He also hailed the para athletes of the country and how they crossed every obstacle to win medals across different sports and categories. Science and space were not an exception, as India’s Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian on the International Space Station.
Wildlife conservation took new steps this year, as the Prime Minister rightly highlighted the number of cheetahs in India, which has crossed 30. On the cultural front, the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and flag hoisting in Ayodhya were said to be transforming events. He further highlighted the role of the Indian diaspora living abroad and talked about the Kannada Pathshala initiative for people of the Kannada language living in Dubai.
He also threw light on unsung heroes from history, and mentioned Parbati Giri from Odisha, who joined the Quit India movement at the age of sixteen and later dedicated his life to tribal welfare. Another important caution reflected by the Prime Minister was regarding growing antibiotic resistance and the importance of a doctor’s prescription before taking any antibiotics.
