The Myanmar earthquake has taken a toll on the crisis that hit a South Asian country that was ready to face the turmoil of an ongoing civil war. As per the recent updates, the number of deaths is around 2900 and the survivors are suffering from lack of shelter and food.
Almost 4,639 people are injured and 300 plus are still missing. In Thailand, the number of people killed is 22 while the damage to buildings is huge. Though a lot of help has been given from neighbouring countries including India and China the people hit by the disaster fear a lack of supplies due to the ongoing civil war.
The International Rescue Committee in its report said that a place like Mandalay where the earthquake originated needed the highest levels of help. A worker of the committee also reported that people who have lived to see the effects of the quake are now frightened due to the impacts of the war on their lives.
The junta is controlling routes for transportation, bridges, ports and even communication channels and if this continues the situation in Myanmar can get worse. While in Bangkok, where buildings are still lying in a state of ruins, rescue work is ongoing and authorities suspect a rise in the number of people injured and killed in the earthquake, which is one of the worst to hit the South Asian nations.
