One of the most anticipated and important events in the beauty pageant field, this year’s “Miss World” finals will be held in Telangana, and the state has several plans to showcase the state’s culture and hospitality to the world in the upcoming event. This will be the 72nd edition of the event, and Telangana Tourism Secretary Smita Sabarwal’s interview with The Hindu gives insights into the preparations.
The Miss World event is based on invitation and not tickets, and just like every year, as per the organisers of the event, the invitation-only tradition has been maintained. However, Sabrawal stated that the state is trying to invite more people from different fields to be a part of the gatherings. It is organised in the Gachibowli stadium, which has a capacity of 3000 people, and there are plans to have people representing the armed forces, judiciary, Indian industries, young achievers and students in the inaugural event.
Concerning the organisation of the event, the tourism secretary further informed that the state police is gearing up to ensure the security of all present at the event, while the municipal corporation is planning to showcase the developments of the region, and there is work for decorating Hyderabad city for the invitees. It is being ensured that every place where the different rounds will take place maintains its authenticity, but also charms the contestants and remains etched in their hearts as they go back with stories.
On the question of funds regarding the event, Sabrawal replied that there has been huge sponsorship from different stakeholders, which is enough to cover all the expenses and smooth completion of the event.
With the event happening in peak summer, there are temperature concerns, and it has been stated by the Secretary on behalf of the organising team that the participants are motivated to stay hydrated and all events are planned to be held post-sunset to escape the warm weather conditions.
The accommodation venue of the contestants has not been shared, but it has been reported that all the necessities have been taken care of, and the entire event will be planned most efficiently and energetically. With contestants representing 140 countries, this is not only a great opportunity for the state but also for the country to shine.
