Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is on a world tour for his latest music album ‘Aura’. During one of his concerts in Sydney, the singer recorded behind-the-scenes clips for his fans, and the recordings shocked many.
The recording began as any normal clip, where the singer can be seen walking near the CommBank stadium in Sydney, checking the stage and the sound levels for the show. He also shared that he was facing some issues with the background track. Stating that a year ago he played in New Delhi, where, during the start of his performance, he faced a similar problem. He said how it was important for everyone to be perfect, as people come to the concerts to have fun and enjoy, and it was his responsibility to ensure the happiness of his fans.
He shared a concerning incident from his Australia tour, where he faced racist comments in the comment section of his recent photos posted by some paparazzi fro the Airport. The comments shared by the singer are disturbing. While narrating the incident, he talks about how a few media houses reported his arrival in Australia, and people commented things like “The new Uber driver is here”, and “the 7\11 employee has landed”.
The ‘GOAT’ singer took the criticism and trolls positively and even said that people are coming forward to defend such statements, and we need to stay united and not fight with each other over borders. Responding to the comments, he further said that he doesn’t feel bad for being compared to cab or truck drivers. Talking of their importance, he said that without them, we would not be able to have bread at home.
A few fans who were part of the BTS video cheered for Diljit. One of them was heard saying that just like his name, he has won hearts across borders. While another said that they had goosebumps listening to his voice every time, and wished him good luck for the tour.
Racist slurs against Indian singers and artists are not uncommon, but calling out such instances is important for spreading awareness and curbing prejudice based on racial distinctions.
