Disha died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building in Mumbai. Despite the controversies surrounding her death, it was alleged as a suicide case. She was the manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and in a recent move, her father moved to the Bombay High Court asking for an FIR registration against the Shiv Sena MLA.
The petition was submitted on behalf of Satish Salian(Disha’s father) by his lawyer. In 2020 when Disha fell from the 14th floor of a high-rise in Malad, an Accidental Death Report was filed by the police, and the death was subsequently accepted by Disha’s father as suicide. However, in the recent plea, he claimed foul play and rape in her daughter’s death.
He stated that on the night of the incident, a party was organized at her home attended by Aaditya Thackeray, his bodyguards, and actors Suraj Pancholi and Dino Morea among others. He further said as per eyewitnesses, she was “gang-raped, forcibly restrained, and subjected to brutal sexual assault“.
Other claims include tampering with photos of the post-mortem, destruction of CCTV footage, and forensic evidence under political pressures. The plea also said that despite the claim that Disha died after falling from the 14th floor there was no blood or fractures in the bone.
He also emphasized the delayed post-mortem of the body up to 50 hours for destroying the evidence of sexual assault by “Aaditya Thackeray”, accused of the crime.
The PIl seeks to be tagged along with Rashid Khan Pathan’s 2023 petition and also asked for a CBI probe in the matter. The SIT set up by the Maharashtra government in 2023 for investigating the case is yet to submit its report. But the incident has become a major issue of contention between Mahayuti and Shiv Sena.
The incident has turned into a political issue with both sides blaming each other for false accusations and using the case as a method to defame the opposite side.
