Punjabi actor and popular bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman passed away, aged 42. The actor suffered from a heart attack at the hospital in Amritsar, where he was undergoing medical treatment. His death has raised several questions about fitness and also created shock among the fitness committee.
According to PTI, the actor’s manager, Yadvinder Singh, said that Ghuman was suffering from shoulder pain and went to the hospital for treatment. His nephew, Amanjot Singh Ghuman, later confirmed that he suffered from a heart attack in the hospital in the evening.
Other than his popularity in the Punjabi industry, he has also worked with Salman Khan in ‘Tiger 3’, and ‘Marjavaan’ in 2019. He also participated in many pageants. He was declared Mr India in 2009, while also securing second rank in Mr Asia. Ghuman belonged to Gurdaspur but was living in Jalandhar, where he owned a gym and was popularly known as the ‘vegetarian body builder’. He was active on social media and posted about his fitness journey on Instagram.
As per sources close to him, he was also wishing to contest in the 2027 Punjab assembly polls. His family, friends, and politicians across various parties have expressed grief over his demise. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister, said that his demise was an irreparable loss for the country and called him the “pride of Punjab”. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former deputy chief minister and Congress MP credited with bringing fame and glory to the state. The politicians took to their X handles to express their condolences.
The sudden demise of Ghuman is being mourned by everyone. It also raises an important question of how much gym and fitness is good for health and when to stop, as excess of anything is harmful.
