The CBI recently closed the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and declared no foul play. The actor died on 14 May 2020 by suicide and after the event, his then-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were under the constant radar of the crime branch.
They were accused by the Narcotics Control Bureau of supplying drugs to the late actor. After rumours about the news spread, Rhea and her brother were targeted on every media and TV platform, and public scrutiny of the family went on.
Many celebrities including actress Dia Mirza asked the CBI for a public apology for the actress who was constantly targeted. Mirza wrote in a post, “Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her Family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRPs. Apologise. That’s the very least you can do.”

Showik Chakraborty shared a video with her sister titled “Satyamev Jayate”. At the same time, their lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, said, “I salute her and her family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhumane treatment they were meted.”
The entire episode was ruining the young actress’s life and career. Not to forget the struggle her family went through when their privacy and personal life were intruded upon and everyone including media and officials was against her.
