The official confirmation of director Priyadarshan’s involvement in Hera Pheri 3 is a cause for celebration for fans of the venerable comedy franchise. The director stated that he would be open to bringing the original trio: Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty; back together for the eagerly anticipated third instalment, and the announcement was made on Priyadarshan’s birthday.
Akshay Kumar kicked off the celebrations by sharing a heartfelt birthday note for Priyadarshan on social media. Alongside a candid photo from the sets of Bhooth Bangla, Akshay wrote, “Happy Birthday, Priyan Sir! What better way to celebrate than by spending the day on a haunted set, surrounded by ghosts…both real and unpaid extras? Responding to Akshay’s warm wishes, Priyadarshan dropped a major hint about Hera Pheri 3. He wrote, “Thank you so much for your wishes, Akshay Kumar. In return, I would like to give you a gift—I am willing to do Hera Pheri 3. Are you ready, Akshay?” The director also tagged Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in his post, signalling his intent to bring the original cast back together.

The Hera Pheri franchise has been a fan favourite since the first film, directed by Priyadarshan, was released in 2000. Its memorable characters and hilarious plot made the film, which starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, and Tabu, a cult classic. In the 2006 follow-up, Phir Hera Pheri, which was directed by the late Neeraj Vora, Akshay, Paresh, Suniel, Bipasha Basu, Rajpal Yadav, and Rimi Sen played important parts.
