The cult favourite, iconic, and joyful series, Panchayat, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, is coming back with the 4th season. Speaking of the series at the recently concluded WAVES festival, the director of the memorable series streamed on Amazon Prime, said that he is looking forward to creating a village universe. Panchayat is one of the most watched and praised shows, and fans are eagerly waiting for the 4th season, the teaser for which was dropped on May 3.
The local elections for the Panchayat are finally going to happen in Phulera, the village where the plot of the series is based. The teaser opens up with a background sound signifying the onset of the elections in the village. Pradhan Ji (Raghubir Yadav) and Bhushan Ji(Durgesh Kumar) are competing for the post, not for themselves but for their respective wives. It gives us a glimpse of what is in store for us on July 2.
The season will decide the future of Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar) and the Pradhan. The teaser’s ending in the voice of Bhushan as he says, “Mazaa Aayega”, perfectly captures the building tension in the village and that there has been a clear divide with few on one side and the rest on the other. It will capture how Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar, will manage the tensions between the candidates of the election and will also ensure his future without compromising his neutrality, which, as the audience knows, is far from how it began.
The teaser also shows the process of elections in villages. It will be interesting to see the democratic process mixed with pure humour that Panchayat brings to the screen. The show is directed by Deepak Misra and Akshat Vijaywargiya, and written by Chandan Kumar. The people returning in the 4th season are Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, Sunita Rajwar, Ashok Pathak, Sanvikaa, Pankaj Jha, Rajesh Jais, Biswapati Sarkar, and Aasfi Khan.
Ever since the new season began shooting last October, its return has been highly anticipated after the last season was left hanging after an attack on Pradha Ji.
