Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, is getting praise for its exceptional performance and storyline. Recently, Hollywood Actor Akshay Kumar wrote that he was “blown away” after watching the movie.
The actor took to X, where he appreciated the Akshay Khanna and Ranveer Singh starrer. The actor wrote that the story is gripping and hard-hitting. He further said that these stories need to be shown in this way, and he was glad that the movie was receiving love from the audience. Fans have been praising the movie, and especially the performance of actor Akshay Khanna, which has taken over the internet.
Fans have gone crazy over his screen presence, as many users say that his role as Sardar Abdul Rahman Baloch, aka Rahman Dakait, has even overshadowed the performance of the protagonist, Ranveer Singh. Kumar’s post has further increased the hype of the movie as his post went viral with 7 lakh views within 3 hours. Dhurandhar opened with a decent box office collection of 28 crore on Friday, as its collection grew on the weekend with 32 crore on Saturday and 43 crore on Sunday, as its popularity among the audience grew.
The character played by Khanna represents a Pakistani gangster who controlled Lyari in the early 2000s. He began selling drugs as a young boy and committed his first crime at the age of 13. Reports suggest that he murdered his own mother at the age of 19, by strangling her to death. He did not stop here, as he later tried to show this event as a suicide. This incident is even shown in the movie, before the first glimpse of Akhsay’s character.
Dakait joined the Haji Laloo gang in the late 90s and took charge as its head after Laloo’s arrest in 2001, and thereafter ruled Lyari along with Baba Ladla(Saurav Khurana) and Uzair Baloch(played by Danish Pandoor) for the next eight years.
The sheer gruesomeness of these gangsters is depicted in reports suggesting that Baloch and Ladla played football with several heads on the orders of Dakait. Rahman used these strategies to dominate others. He was killed during a shootout by Karachi police at the age of 34.
