During a ‘Jan Sunvai’ programme, the Chief Minister of Delhi was attacked by a man who was later recognised as Rajesh Bhai Khimji. The accused has been sent to police remand for five days, as per reports by the Delhi Police. They further said that he had come to Delhi two days before the attack and was spotted around the CM’s residence. An FIR by the Delhi Police, under sections 109, 132, and 221, has been registered against Khimji. She expressed her shock post the attack and ensured her wellness to her supporters.
The CM’s security has been upgraded after the attack to include CRPF personnel. The incident has raised serious security concerns for the Chief Minister, as the party continues to call it a planned one, without naming any suspect. Mrs. Gupta’s security will now be upgraded to Z-plus, as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The guidelines for the protection protocols of VIPs and VVIPs are listed in the MHA’s yellow book. As per sources, the security has been upgraded following a report prepared by intelligence agencies.
Her official residence and Camp Office in the Civil Lines area will get a VIP Security Group security, VSG is the same force that protects the Gandhi family of the Congress party and the Home Minister Amit Shah. Several other security measures have been planned for her, which include a ban on people who will participate in the ‘Jan Sunvai’ sessions in future. Every complaint from now on will not go to the CM directly, and as per sources close to the matter, a prior verification of each person will be done, and a perimeter will be marked to demarcate the space between the complaint and the CM.
