After Trump’s supporter, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated a week ago, violence gripped the entire country as people from both parties were fueled with rage and anger. The major suspect, Tyler Robinson from Utah, has pleaded to surrender peacefully, due to fear of police shooting. Nate Brooksby, the Washington County Sheriff, reportedly stated this on Wednesday.
As per AP, Sheriff Brooksby stated that the accused was afraid of being shot by the police and said to avoid a SWAT team in front of his or his parents’ apartment. Charlie Kirk, who was a conservative activist, was shot on 10th September at Utah Valley University, where he was delivering a speech on ‘American comeback tour’. The 22-year-old suspect was charged with capital murder as prosecutors on Tuesday demanded the death penalty for him.
As per authorities, DNA evidence and messages reveal that Tyler was linked with the murder of one of Trump’s closest allies. The first hearing of Tyler’s case was on Tuesday, while his family has not commented on it publicly. On Wednesday, classes at Utah Valley University began after a week-long pause.
The accused was living three hours away from the University where the assassination happened, and knew before that he could not escape the punishment. It has been reported that he had ideological differences with Kirk, and out of rage, he committed the crime. Investigations reveal that Robinson’s close family friend asked him to surrender, and a letter from his apartment had confirmed that he wanted to murder Kirk.
He wrote that he had an opportunity to assassinate the conservative activist and how he would take it. The involvement of another person in the matter is being investigated as officers said that Robinson told his partner that the hatred spread by Kirk cannot be negotiated. Tyler’s mother confirmed that his political views leaned towards the left and he supported transgender rights, while Charlie Kirk was a Conservative youth activist and had played a major role in Trump’s election campaign last year.
