A 22-year-old student from India, Manojh Sai Lella, has been arrested by American authorities over arson and terror. According to the PTI report, Lella is a senior studying Information Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas and was taken into custody by the Frisco Police Department on Monday.
The response came after an alleged report by Lella’s family claiming mental health issues and a terror threat. He has been accused of setting a home ablaze a few days back. The 22-year-old faces a first-degree felony case for arson with the grave intent of causing damage to a habitat or place of worship. He is also declared a Class A Misdemeanour by the Collin County jail. The authorities, however, clarified that there was no evidence to prove any threat to a place of worship by his act.
The investigations are still ongoing, as he has been taken into police custody after the family informed them. As per the local country records, Lella was born in 2003, and for the felony, he can be expected to serve a jail term of 5 to 99 years, or a life term of imprisonment. For the misdemeanour, the sentence may range up to 1 year, depending upon the court hearing, which is pending. The felony bond has been set at $100,000, and for misdemeanour it is $3,500.
