The minister of Industry and supply, Piyush Goyal recently launched a helpdesk for the startup ecosystem of India. It aims to ease the process of startup mechanisms for entrepreneurs and incentivise them to grow. The helpline number named “Startup India desk” was launched on 5 April this year, by the ministry.
The helpline will be released by DPIIT (department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade), as reported by the minister while addressing the crowd at the Startup Mahakumbh 2025, at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. The helpline is in the form of a four-digit toll-free number and is available in many regional languages making it an inclusive initiative.
He also shared the helpline initiative through a social media post
In this video shared on his X handle, Mr Goyal is heard addressing the entrepreneurs when he says, “What I’m going to do now, is start a desk at “Startup India” in my ministry, which will be a helpline for any startup from anywhere in the country.”
The helpline provides various services which were listed by the minister in his speech. He said that things like trouble from an official, changes that are needed in law, and any grievance redressal related to corruption can be addressed by the number.
Another major announcement from the event was the approval of the Fund of Funds for Startups. In his speech, Piyush Goyal mentioned the approval of FFS with a 10,000 crore corpus and the release of 2,000 crore from the fund by SIDBi this year. The main focus of this scheme is to provide funding to startups at the initial stage and the same was emphasised by the minister, “A significant portion of the fund will be reserved for seed funding of small startups and to support deep-tech innovation startups,”
The fund will focus on innovative startups like robotics, AI, LLM, quantum computing, and biotech, which require large capital problems. In the meeting, he also asked SIDBI to venture into support and assistance to startups at local levels to provide the necessary capital for growth.
India has the third largest startup ecosystem only behind China and the US and the current policies and initiatives of the government aim at strengthening this pillar which will define the upcoming years of India as the leader of innovation and technology.
